A Few Facts About A Popular Spinoff Series, Caprica
Those who love science fiction have not allowed America’s sci-fi creation Caprica to fall to the wayside despite a cold welcoming from media and news outlets. Unlike sci-fi programs from the past the TV show Caprica seems to draw the interest of both the male and female population.
Created as a follow-up to the very popular TV series Battlestar Gallactica; Caprica comes from a different angle, taking place 58 years before Battlestar Galactica existed. It explains how the robots referred to as Cylons, who were created by the humans decide that they were not treated properly and therefore plot to erase mankind. If you did not take the time to see Battlestar Galactica before watching Caprica you will notice unlike other programs where you must see the first series to understand second. That is not the case with this program. The main focus is that of two families that are introduced, whose lives keep crossing paths as events keep pulling them together.
The two-hour pilot of the program was first aired in January 2010. Ronald Moore, a well-known screenwriter and producer with a continuously growing list fan favorite in the world of science fiction enlisted the help of David Eick to make the series a reality.
While cast members such as Eric Stoltz, Paula Malcolmson, Alessandra Torresani, Esai Morales, Sasha Adama, Magda Apanowicz and Polly Walker are regulars fans who watch the show on a regular basis will notice there are many reoccurring roles leaving you with many familiar faces on each episode.
An interesting piece of trivia, which you may be unaware of, is that the American-made program is the fact that it’s filmed throughout many areas in and surrounding Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Some very popular and familiar buildings in the city can be seen throughout the series such as Central City Shopping Mall, the SkyTrain and Simon Fraser University.
Though originating in the United States the series has made its way to Canada, as well as the United Kingdom with great success so far. Though it has not been on the air long you will already find it is well on its way as it has already announced a second season is soon to be available.
The show’s popularity has also led to countless Internet fan clubs and discussion groups dedicated to discussing the program and its cast and characters. These clubs and discussion groups can easily be found with a quick search of the net. As well as groups of fans who actually meet in person to enjoy exploration of areas of Vancouver, in which it was filmed.
