Video Games Vs Movies, Is It The End Of The Silver Screen
Video games vs movies, I love both. Indeed, the video game industry has taken a big junk out of the movie industry. Is the movie industry a bit desperate these days as video games become more and more like movies? I think so. Will the sliver screen era come to an end now?
Is Hollywood doomed to go under? Whats your thing? Take your choice: video games vs movies? The cool thing about great video games like Call Of Duty Modern Warfare is the fact that you feel like a Hollywood hero saving the world from evil. Video games give you power over the story itself. Very few people can resist the allure of power and excitement that a video game offers?
Since good games offers a player hundreds of hours of potential game play the movie industry can not get these people into the theaters.
There, however, is still hope for the movies. When movies came out, people thought that would be the end of reading, of buying books when the movies were introduced to the human-race, way back when. When TV came out people thought that would be the end of movies. So again when video games began that was supposed to spell the end of TV. Video games have been around since the 70ties.
The Apocalypse never happened. Why? I don’t think its surprising that the more people have the more people want. That’s why Mall developers try and cram in as many stores as possible, and if another mall opens in the same area, that’s great! More stores means more costumers.
Video games vs movies, is this comparison possible? Not really. They are two different things. Video games are active, movies are more passive.
They both offer different experiences, for different times of day and moods. Personally I do not always feel like being active. A video game is like partaking in sports. Traditionally movies are passive experiences, the light is reflected from the movie screen into your eyes, like the moon light. Movies are a chance to sit back relax and enjoy a story, like in the days of yore when we would sit under the moon light and tell a story. What does a video game offer, active participation where I can be a winner, a hero.
Now the real problem is not that video games are better than movies, its getting those gamers into the cinema again, and the way they do this by creating gimmicks like real 3D, or combining the film concept with a video game release. It is true that their might be less and less movie goers, but now we do not even have to leave the comfort of our home with VOD.
